MAJOR PROJECTS

This section includes the major projects we completed during the school year. With the exception of the training workshop which was completed individually, these projects were completed in teams over the course of a few weeks.

The Behavioural Descriptive Interview with Competency Scale was created as a method of evaluating candidates in an interview. We developed a scale based on the competencies we wanted to rate each candidate on, allowing them to exhibit varying levels of each competency based on their answers to the questions we asked them.

The Orientation and Onboarding Program was developed as a tool to be used when hiring new employees and integrating them into their positions. We worked with a local dance studio - Maritime Dance Academy, assessing their needs and tailoring the program to their organizational culture.

The Training Workshop was a 3 hour workshop that I created and facilitated for my classmates. I was assigned the topic of "Keys to a Successful Expatriate Orientation" but was given complete creative freedom as to how the workshop would be structured and what information would be presented.

The Performance Management Program was another chance to work with a local industry, this time working with ORB Toys to create a program that supported and recognized continued high performance in their employees. As young, expanding company they were happy to have us develop a tool for them to use to help meet the demand of managing their growth.

Wage Structure allowed us to create our own fictional company, assign key roles and set a wage line complete with pay grades and pay scales. This project gave us a lot of insight into the complexities of compensation in the business world.

The Occupational Health and Safety Training Manual also allowed us to create a company, and develop an OH&S manual to meet the needs of the company. We created a policy and outlined multiple programs to be used to manage the safety of the employees at a fictional restaurant.
